CAMP THEMES
What is your aspiring scientist interested in?
Super Star Scientists Week 3 (July 6 – 10)
Ready to reach for the stars? From skywatching to storytelling, this week of camp will teach us how humans learn about stars. We’ll learn what makes a star a star and how tools help us see near and far.
Sensory Science Week 5 (July 20 – 24)
Scientists use their senses to learn about the world around them. Scientists will stimulate their senses with color mixing, scent guessing, body balance, and more! Join us this week for sights, sounds, and smells galore!
Amazing Astronauts Week 7 (Aug 3 – 7)
Humans have accomplished great feats, like space travel and moon landings – what will the next generation of amazing astronauts do? Dream big and train for a journey to space this week at camp. From astronaut obstacle courses to solar system studies, your rising Kindergartener will learn what it takes to travel through space.
Make It Go Week 1 (June 15 – 19) | Week 7 (July 27 – 31)
On your mark, get set, make it go! Join us as we make simple machines, experiment with elasticity, and figure out flight! From wheels and axles to catapults and projectiles, campers will explore the science of movement and engineering. Your camper will be introduced to foundational physics concepts by getting hands-on with stations, experiments, design challenges, and more. Engineers, let’s get the ball rolling!
Naturally Curious Week 2 (June 22 – 26) | Week 6 (July 20 – 24)
Why do some animals soar with wings and others swim with fins? Why do some animals live in the cold and some love the heat? Campers will explore different animal habitats, investigate animal adaptations, and be curious about the natural world all around us!
MOSAC Mission Control Week 4 (July 6 – 10) | Week 8 (Aug 3 – 7)
Houston, we have a camp! Curious about how robots help us with space exploration? From rockets and rovers to satellites and the ISS, we will discover all the different robots in space! Our Mission Control campers will finish their week by designing their own space robot prototype and creating their version of NASA’s golden record.
Slippery Slimy Science Week 1 (June 29 – July 3) | Week 5 (July 13 – 17)
Put on your lab coats and join us in the lab! Embrace the mess, the goo, and the slime as you learn and play! Experiment with bubbling chemistry, investigate states of matter, and even participate in an optional dissection.
Playing is more than just fun and games – it’s also full of science! To create a game, you’ll need the mind of an engineer, the imagination of a storyteller, and the curiosity of a scientist. Solve problems and create fun new challenges as you observe, experiment, and explore different games all week long. Learn some physics, build a simple machine, and playtest your creations! Are you game?
A Martian’s Guide to Space Week 2 (June 22 – 26) | Week 6 (July 20 – 24)
Hop on board our UFO as we explore the solar system in search of a new, habitable home! Investigate each planet along the way to discover what makes our solar system unique. From Saturn and its rings to Venus and its volcanoes, there will be so much to learn during this camp week!
Creepy Crawly Creatures Week 4 (July 6 – 10) | Week 8 (Aug 3 – 7)
What kind of creature has six legs? Eight? 100? None at all? What makes a millipede different from a centipede? What do bugs look like up close? If these questions are more fascinating than freaky, you ought to become an entomologist. Study these creepy crawly creatures with us at Camp Curiosity!
Animal Outcasts Week 3 (June 29 – July 3) | Week 8 (July 13 – 17)
Explore the most unusual animals around and what makes them so incredible. It will be up to campers to decide: are their reputations fact or fiction? Brace yourself as we explore creepy crawlies, deep sea fish, dinosaurs, extremophiles, and more!
Are you on our team? Team Green, that is! This week is all about designing an eco-friendly city. Work in teams to plan your award-winning city while learning how to lend a helping hand to our natural world. Become an engineer and plan how you’ll power the grid or embrace your inner artist as you decorate your town in meaningful murals. From Most Energy Efficient to Wonderfully Walkable, there are plenty of awards to aim for. Care to join Team Green?
Space Survival Week 5 (July 13 – 17)
What if you faced a survival challenge set in space? This camp week begins with MOSAC’s Astronaut Training Academy. After graduating from the academy, campers will embark on a group mission over the following days. Traveling through space is no easy task, and astronauts are no stranger to risks and chance events. What would YOU do in the face of tech troubles, interstellar illnesses, and celestial catastrophes? Put your skills, knowledge, and instincts to the test. Do you have what it takes to survive in space?
Lab Science 101 Week 7 (July 27 – 31)
Microscopes, centrifuges, and beakers, oh my! Lab Science 101 is all about learning the tools and techniques used in chemistry and biology labs. See yourself as a scientist as you build molecule models, isolate DNA, and do a dissection. You can’t get more hands-on than this!
All Design Lab Specialty Camps are held in MOSAC’s Design Lab using our 3D printers, laser cutter, and hand tools such as pliers, wire strippers, and wire cutters.
Make Me a Maker 5th/6th Grade Week 2 (June 22 – 26) | 7th/8th Grade Week 4 (July 6 – 10)
Calling all makers! Looking to build skills with real tools? Join us and build confidence with CAD software, 3D printing, laser cutting, and electrical engineering! We’ll teach campers the basics of each tool and then let their creativity flow as they design their own light-up acrylic sign. Let’s make your camper a Maker!
Cosmic Construction 5th/6th Grade Week 6 (July 20 – 24) | 7th/8th Grade Week 8 (Aug 3 – 7)
I wish I wish upon a star, that space was not so very far…consider your wish granted! In this week of Design Lab Specialty Camp, you’ll learn how to use the tools needed to build your own constellation display. You’ll use a laser cutter, 3D printer, and hand tools to create a work of art that combines a two-dimensional and three-dimensional version of a classic constellation.
