MOSAC Academies + Scheduled Exhibits Access

Bring classroom learning to life with MOSAC Academies—immersive, full-day field trip experiences that combine hands-on labs, real-world engineering challenges, engaging exhibit exploration, and a live planetarium show! Led by our dynamic Curiosity Collaborators, each academy program invites students to investigate, design, build, and collaborate as they tackle exciting STEM topics and challenges aligned to NGSS and California Environmental Principles.

Explore the delicate balance of Earth’s ecosystems in this engaging academy experience. Students investigate food webs, trophic levels, and the impact of human activity on natural systems through hands-on labs and gallery exploration. Then, using what they’ve learned, they work in teams to design and build a biodome capable of sustaining human life on Mars—combining environmental science with engineering for a powerful real-world challenge.

Harness the power of the wind in this exciting, hands-on academy! Students explore renewable energy and sustainability through exhibit investigations and interactive demonstrations. Then they become engineers that create and test their own wind turbine blades. A powerful way to learn about design, iteration, and energy innovation!

Dive into the science of energy and innovation! Through experiments, demonstrations, and gallery exploration, students examine the forms and sources of energy and the importance of sustainable power. Inspired by NASA’s missions to Mars, they use solar panels and the engineering design process to prototype a self-sustaining Martian colony—then present their powered-up solutions to the group!
