Q: How long do the birthday parties last?
A: You have 1.5 hours in your private birthday room but you also have admission to the museum! Most families will spend some time after their party exploring the museum with their guests. In fact, we encourage it!
Q: When can we check in for our party?
A: 30 minutes prior to the party, but only for the host family. This time is used to get set up and is often a busy period for your attendant who is getting your room ready. Feel free to drop off your items, meet the attendant, and talk about the party itinerary.
Q: What if our party runs long?
A: Your party cannot run long as we often have parties or events taking place shortly after. Thus, you will be asked to adhere to our strict 1.5 hour reservation.
Q: If we are a member, do we get a discount on the reservation?
A: If you have a family level, or above, you get a 10% discount on the reservation.
Q: Is parking covered for our guests?
A: Unfortunately, no. Our parking lot is owned by the city; thus, all guests will need to pay for their vehicle. The city monitors the lot and will issue citations to all that haven’t paid.
Q: Can I bring my own Food?
A: All food orders need to go through our café, the curiosity café. However! You can certainly bring cake, cupcakes, goodie bags, and bottled water.
Q: Do you have a fridge that we can use?
A: Unfortunately, not. The fridge in the classroom is reserved for science experiments! Not a good place to keep food…
Q: Do you provide a lighter to light the candles?
A: We will not provide a lighter. If you have a cake with candles, please bring your own fire.
Q: Can I have more than 25 guests?
A: No, our room capacity is 25. If you have more than 25 guests, consider booking the double birthday room package.
Q: If I have extra guests and they pay separately, can they join us in the birthday room?
A: If they pay general admission, they can join you in the museum after your birthday room reservation ends. In some cases, our attendant can decide that there is enough room for the kids and the activity and may let the extra guests watch the activity. It is not guaranteed though.
Q: What should we do first for the party itinerary?
A: The choice is ultimately yours, but we recommend that you start with the activity, gifts, and then eat at the end of your reservation.
Q: How long is the activity?
A: We try and keep the activity to 20 to 30 minutes. It is a ton of fun and can take up your whole time if we do not keep this in mind. Ultimately though, you can decide how long you’d like the activity to last.
Q: Can the attendant help with serving food?
A: No, our birthday attendants are there to assist and make sure everyone is enjoying themselves, but they are not food handlers.
Q: Do you provide serving utensils?
A: We do not, please bring your own serving utensils.
Q: Can we decorate the room ourselves?
A: You certainly can, just let us know ahead of time. The decorations you bring must be able to be cleanly removed from the walls and cause zero damage to the room. Your decorations must also be taken down prior to your party ending.
